Regenerative Medicine

Platelet Rich
Plasma Therapy

Your body is in a constant state of regeneration.
This process is mitigated in large part, by the actions of blood platelets.

These cells house hundreds of growth factors within its walls.  When platelets encounter injured tissue, they release growth factors which coordinate the healing process.

A PRP treatment is simply a concentrated dose of platelets and healing cytokines from your blood administered to areas of chronic injury or damage in your body.

The PRP we obtain does not include WBC’s, which promote scar tissue and interfere with healing.

Micronized Fat
Aspirate Injection

We use an FDA cleared medical device that takes fat
(also known as adipose tissue) from your abdomen and then inject it into your arthritic and or painful joint.

This helps to alleviate joint pain and allow you to regain function and return to your daily activities.

Fat contains cells, including pre-adipocytes, fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, and a variety of immune cells.

Fat is a structural tissue and performs a structural function in
patients, for example, to physically support or serve as a barrier or conduit, or connect, cover, or cushion.

Under local anesthesia, the fat (adipose tissue) is taken from the abdomen through a small incision in the skin. Inflammatory oils and blood are removed, and the natural and beneficial properties of the tissue are preserved.

The procedure is done in the office and takes about one hour. It is a minimally invasive procedure, performed under a local anesthetic.

Research has shown that regardless of a person’s  age, their fat maintains its reparative properties unlike other tissues such as bone marrow, which may lose healing capacity with age.

The fat tends to stay in the area where it is injected instead of being reabsorbed by the body, allowing your body to maximize the benefits of the procedure for an extended period of time

Bone Marrow
Aspirate Concentration

BMAC

Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) is a regenerative therapy procedure that uses cells from a patient’s bone marrow to initiate healing for a number of orthopedic conditions, including osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries.

Chronically painful areas often have inadequate blood supply, healing potential and regenerative cells to repair damage.

BMAC can provide a rich supply of regenerative cells with the ability heal local environment. It has tremendous potential for patients with moderate to severe orthopedic conditions or injuries and is most often used to treat severe arthritis in the shoulder, knee and hip.

BMAC is obtained during an outpatient procedure in which a small amount of the patient’s bone marrow is extracted from the back of the pelvis, using local anesthesia to minimize any discomfort.  The marrow is then processed in a centrifuge to produce a concentration which will then be injected into the patient’s damaged tissue to promote healing.

The full benefit of the procedure should be felt within six to eight weeks of the procedure.-

Extracorporeal
Shock Wave Therapy

Extracorporeal Shock Wave is the most advanced and highly effective non-invasive treatment method cleared by the FDA.

This proprietary technology is based on a unique set of pressure waves that stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood circulation and accelerate the healing process.

Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals. This non-invasive clinic based procedure represents a breakthrough treatment option for a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy has a proven success rate that is equal to or greater than that of traditional treatment methods (including surgery) and without the risks, complications and lengthy recovery time.

Shock wave therapy is  performed in our office, does not require anesthesia, requires a minimal amount of time, and patients can return to normal activity within a few days of the procedure.

Viscosupplementation

Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance naturally present in the synovial fluid that lubricates your joints.

Arthritis patients lose hyaluronic acid as their joint wears away.

Replacing it is a process called viscosupplementation.

The injections are FDA-approved for knee osteoarthritis.

This temporarily increases the viscosity, or thickness, of the fluid that surrounds the joint it is injected into. This may reduce pain and make joint movement easier.

Many patients report six months of relief, and the injections may be repeated every six months or based on physician judgement.
